Instrumental Auditions will be held in March 2012.
Auditions are held for PERIOD INSTRUMENTS ONLY. We do not hold auditions for modern instruments. Applicants should be playing on either a period instrument or a modern reproduction, and be prepared to perform at either A=415 or A=430. If the applicant chooses to play works from both the Baroque and Classical periods on the audition he/she can play at either pitch.
Strings:
Please be prepared to play on a BAROQUE period instrument and bow at A=415. You should also have a classical bow with you if you are playing something from the classical period, but you may remain at A=415.
Woodwinds:
Flutes, oboes and bassoons should be prepared to play on both baroque and classical period instruments. Baroque instruments must be at A=415, Classical instruments at A=430. Clarinets are only required to have a Classical period instrument and play at A=430
Brass:
You may play on any appropriate instrument from either the Baroque or Classical period at either A=415 or A=430
Violin:
Any one fast movement of the Corelli Church Sonatas, op. 5 no. 1-6
One other piece or movement of a piece of the candidate's choice from the Baroque or Classical repertoire
Viola:
Any unaccompanied piece by J.S. Bach
One other piece or movement of a piece of the candidate's choice from the Baroque or Classical repertoire
Cello:
Any one fast movement of any of the Geminiani Cello Sonatas
One other piece or movement of a piece of the candidate’s choice from the Baroque or Classical repertoire
Bass:
Two contrasting pieces or movements of pieces of the candidate's choice. One must be from the Baroque repertoire, the other may be from either the Baroque or Classical repertoire
Woodwinds:
Two contrasting pieces or movements of pieces of the candidate's choice. One must be from the Baroque repertoire, the other from the Classical repertoire, played on the appropriate instrument
Brass:
Two or three contrasting pieces or movements of pieces of the candidate's choice from the Baroque or Classical repertoire

Resumes can also be emailed to jlevine@handelandhaydn.org. The resume should be either sent as an attached file or placed in the body of the email letter. Resumes must be received no later than November 19.
When your resume is received you will be contacted by mail or phone regarding audition times and requirements. Any questions regarding the auditions should be sent to either of the above addresses.
