Camaraderie across communities

Collaborative Youth Concerts provide students with a sense of achievement and musical ownership in ways that traditional youth concerts cannot. High school choristers perform in their own neighborhoods alongside the Handel and Haydn Society Period Instrument Orchestra and Chorus. For one young singer, the chance to perform with Society musicians was "a dream come true." For all, it is an opportunity to see, first hand, how music enriches our communities and our lives.

Music brings them together
An important element of these youth concerts is the careful pairing of choruses that results in shared musical and cultural experiences.
"It's never awkward when the different schools come together, even though they are from different backgrounds," said the Music Director of the Quincy public schools. "Music brings them together."
