The Handel and Haydn Society was founded in 1815 by a group of Boston merchants seeking to enrich Boston 's cultural landscape. Discover more about the Society's dynamic artistic leadership and the praise delivered by an enthusiastic press. Under the artistic leadership of Artistic Advisor Sir Roger Norrington, Principal Conductor Grant Llewellyn, and Conductor Laureate Christopher Hogwood, the Society continues to receive accolades, including a 2002 Grammy Award and a place in the American Classical Music Hall of Fame. The Society's critically acclaimed Chorus and Period Orchestra perform in such venues as Symphony Hall, NEC's Jordan Hall, and the Shubert Theatre.
