

On Tuesday, January 18, the Society came
together with Trinity Church of Boston in response to the
tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia. A free concert was held
at Trinity Church featuring Grant Llewellyn and the Handel
and Haydn Orchestra, the Trinity Handbell Ensemble under
the direction of Griff Gall, and performers from the Boston
Lyric Opera.
A free-will offering was collected for “Save the Children” in
their efforts to provide clean drinking water, food, temporary
shelter, and protection from disease. States Handel and Haydn
Society Executive Director Mary Deissler, "Four dancers
who performed in our staged production of Monteverdi’s
Vespers in September of 2003 live in Indonesia. We worked
very closely with these artists for many weeks and became
friends and colleagues. We are very concerned about them
and their families and want to do what we can to help."
