
Canadian soprano Gillian Keith studied at McGill University in Montréal and the Royal Academy of Music in London and was the winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award in 2000. She is in great demand on recital, oratorio and opera platforms. Recordings include Handel’s Gloria with John Eliot Gardiner (Philips), Debussy: Early Songs (Deux-Elles) and Schubert among Friends (Marquis).
Operatic roles include Poppea (Basel), Nannetta Falstaff and Soprano St John Passion, (ENO), Purcell’s King Arthur (ENO and San Francisco), Dew Fairy Hansel and Gretel (BBC Proms), Iole Hercules and Silvia Ascanio in Alba (Buxton Festival), Woodbird Siegfried, Papagena Magic Flute and Amor Orfeo ed Euridice (Scottish Opera), Bellezza in Handel’s Triumph of Time and Truth (Almeida Opera), Diana La Calisto (Toronto Consort) and Diana The Assassin Tree (ROH2 and Edinburgh International Festival).
Most recent and future engagements include Zerbinetta Ariadne auf Naxos andTytania A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Covent Garden), Messiah with The Sixteen (Valencia and Barcelona), and with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Tafelmusik (Toronto), Mahler 8 with the RPO, Mozart with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Elmira Croesus (Opera North), Tiny Paul Bunyon (Bregenz Festival), Florentiner Intermedien (Saarbrücken) and Ginevre Ariodante (Halle).
Ms. Keith performs in “Celebrate Handel!” on October 3 and 5 at Symphony Hall. These performances mark her Handel and Haydn Society debut.
